With 2020 coming to a close, many people are still facing the lasting impacts from COVID-19. From unprecedented physical and mental health challenges, financial struggles, hunger and housing, the list is astounding. At Maxim, we recognize these struggles and believe that in this holiday season the act of giving is especially important. As such, in lieu of sending holiday gifts, we have decided to donate to a few local charities that have a special place in our hearts at Maxim.

Chicago Public Schools reported serving 16,451 homeless students during the 2018-19 school year, many of whom live in shelters. These students face the risk of falling 3 to 6 months behind in school with every move! Chicago HOPES for Kids provides educational support for these children to ensure they have the resources and encouragement needed to succeed academically. https://www.chicagohopesforkids.org/
Special Olympics Chicago provides year-round athletic sports training and athletic competition for children and adults in Chicago with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Red Door Animal Shelter is committed to helping animals in need. Red Door provides a cageless environment for the animals, giving them the closest to a home experience that a shelter can provide. http://www.reddoorshelter.org/
United Way has launched a regional recovery effort to carry on the activities of the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund. In the Chicago region, 1 in 3 families are walking a financial tightrope, unable to afford basic necessities or handle an unexpected expense. https://liveunitedchicago.org/
